of Wakefield fell asleep in the Lord on June 1, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Jerry was born in Woonsocket to Donat & Florence (Beaudoin) Carignan. Jerry was preceded in death by his brother, Donald (Jan) Carignan.
He earned his Bachelor's degree at Providence College, then served in the United States Army. Jerry enjoyed a long career as a regional representative with Broyhill Furniture. He was an active member of the RI Lions Club. A talented drummer and vibraphonist, Jerry shared his love of music both professionally and personally – performing alongside jazz professionals and bringing joy to family gatherings.
A man of great Orthodox Christian faith, Jerry was devoted to serving in his two residence parishes of Cranston, RI and Boca Raton, FL. His love of the sea, coupled with his patriotism led him to proudly serve in the US Coast Guard Auxiliary during his retirement years.
He shared many joyful years of boating with his beloved and surviving wife of 43 years, Georgia (Economou) Carignan. Jerry is also survived by his children Jerry Carignan Jr, Doug Carignan, Lisbeth (Alan) Clark, Barbara Carignan (Craig Medwid) and grandson, Shane Carignan and great-granddaughter, Kylie Guadagni. He is also survived by step-daughters: Lori (Mark) McClain, Carolyn Evangeline, and Lesley (David) Fastovsky. Grandpa Jerry will also be missed by grandchildren Kate (Michael) Borrero, Jenna (Tyler) Morlong, Christian Frangos, Olivia Frangos, Naomi Fastovsky and Marieke Fastovsky.
The family is heartfully grateful for the devoted and skillful staff at South Kingstown Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and Continuum Hospice & Palliative Care.
