Gerald E. Celio, Sr.

of Robin Lane, West Warwick, went to be with his Lord on February 11, 2017. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Helen H. (Arnold) Celio. He was the loving son of Luigi and Anna (Fiorante) Celio.

Born in Providence and raised on Federal Hill, he resided in East Greenwich for most of his life and later retired in Aruba. Mr. Celio was a 1947 graduate of Central High School where he was the class president, recipient of the “Leonard H. Campbell Trophy” for outstanding male student and 3 X Rhode Island State Wrestling Champion. He was a United States Army veteran, and a self-employed entrepreneur owning several retail stores throughout New England.

He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather and is survived by his children, Samuel R. Benoit and wife Jill (Cutter) of West Greenwich, Cheryl A. (Benoit) and husband Michael Fallon of Cranston, Gerald E. Celio, Jr. and Erin Alviti of Greenville, Stephen L. Celio and his wife Valerie (Smith) of Glocester, and Michael C. Celio of West Warwick. In addition to his children, he leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, John L (deceased) and wife Josephine Celio, of North Syracuse, New York and Donald J. (deceased) and wife Ann (DeCrosta) Celio of North Providence.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday February 18th at 12 noon in Our Lady of Mercy Church, Fourth Avenue, East Greenwich followed by burial with military honors in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.

Visiting hours are Friday February 17th  from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave. Cranston.
