Gerard E. Tetreault passed away peacefully at 95 years of age on June 11, 2026.
Jerry was a devoted husband of 73 years to his wife Jennie, a dedicated father of three and a trusted mentor to his many friends and extended family. He was a former Superintendent of Schools in Foster, RI, and a longtime principal of the Captain Isaac Paine Elementary School. He taught world history and Latin in the Bellingham and Franklin, MA, school systems, and was chairman of the Bellingham School Committee.
He will be remembered for his dedication to education, his love of learning, and the kindness and wisdom he shared with family, friends, students, and colleagues.
Jerry was an avid reader of histories and other nonfiction, a fan of Westerns and classical music and he enjoyed traveling with his wife. He was born in 1931 in Pawtucket, Rl, graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Central Falls, RI, and received a master's degree from Rhode Island College. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Jerry was pre-deceased by his daughter Colette Berube; his brothers Richard, Robert and Raymond Tetreault; and sisters Yvette Pietraszkiewicz, Lucille Laliberte and Rita Linderman. He is survived by his wife Jennie (Antoldi) Tetreault; sister Elaine Newsham; sons Stephan Tetreault and his wife Mary of VA; Richard Tetreault and his wife Elizabeth of RI; son-in-law George Berube of MA; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, June 19th at 11:00 a.m. in St. Timothy Church, 1799 Warwick Ave., Warwick. Military Honors will follow outside of church. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
