Gilda (Pizzi) Burgess

93, of Cranston, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, November 18, 2016. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert L. Burgess, Sr.Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Filomena (Indeglia) Pizzi. Gilda’s passion was cooking and caring for her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving children, Robert L. Burgess, Jr. and his wife Elaine of Tiverton, Catherine M. Howarth of Warwick and her late husband James E. Howarth, Thomas J. Burgess of Cranston, Gilda G. Burgess of Narragansett, Jean C. Bailey of Cranston, and Angela M. Lasher of Chepachet and her late husband Patrick O. Lasher. Gilda was the cherished grandmother of fourteen and the great-grandmother of thirteen. She was the sister of Anthony Pizzi of Cranston, Vincent Pizzi of North Providence, Angelo Pizzi of Florida, and the late Joseph Pizzi, Frances Maddalena, Thomas Pizzi, Jr. and Rocco Pizzi.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary Church, 1525 Cranston Street, Cranston. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veteran’s Cemetery, Exeter.
