Family and friends were his pride and joy, followed by his dedication to his profession; his career began at the tender age of 13. He worked in various RI hotels, until Brown University Food Services became his home, serving as Executive Chef where he remained for 45 years.
Gino was a founding member and past President of the American Culinary Federation, RI Chapter and until his illness, continued to be an active member demonstrating his dedication to his profession. Throughout his career, Gino was the recipient of numerous awards, among them: AAC Leadership Award, Presidential Medallion, N.E. Chef Professionalism, RI Chapter Lifetime Achievement, Les Amis d'Escoffier Society, in 2005 he was inducted into the prestigious American Academy of Chefs Hall of Fame and in 2012 he was awarded the National American Academy of Chefs Lifetime Achievement.
Funeral will be held from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Monday at 8:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Rocco Church, Johnston. Burial will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours are 4-8 p.m. on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in memory of Chef Gino A.
