82, peacefully crossed over with his devoted daughter by his side on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at HopeHealth Hospice & Palliative Care, Providence. Born in Teano, Italy, Giovanni was the son of the late Silvestro and Assunta (DeSpirito) Caparco. Mr. Caparco was a tool maker for several decades before retiring. He additionally worked many years in Operations of the Providence Civic Center, performing various tasks from setting up concert stages to driving the Zamboni to chauffeuring celebrities in his personal vehicle. Earlier in his life, Giovanni enjoyed racing cars (was proud of his 1st place trophy), driving motorcycles, deep sea fishing and speed boating. He also enjoyed playing bocce, cards, horseshoes, billiards, and casino slots. He had a passion for quahogging, mushrooming, gardening, and nurturing his treasured fig and lemon trees and grape vines. He loved taking long scenic rides and sunrise walks on the beach with his daughter and grand dogs, walking the rock wall at Oakland Beach and enjoyed drinking a Courvoisier or refreshing Heineken. Most of all, “Johnny” loved spending time with his beloved family and cherished friends, animals and nature, and was devoted to his faith.
Giovanni is survived by his beloved daughter, LisaJean Caparco, and was predeceased by his beloved son Christopher Caparco. He was the cherished brother of Maria Marziale, Julia Monahan, and the late Ida DeBiasio, Anthony “Tony” Caparco, and Carmino Caparco. He was the brother-in-law of Daniel Monahan and Victoria Procaccianti, as well as the late Mario Marziale Sr, Lorenzo De Biasio Sr, and Karen Cady. “Uncle Johnny” leaves behind three generations of many cherished nieces and nephews. “Grampy” leaves behind his beloved and spoiled grand dog Noel and grand cat Anastasia (Kitty) and is now reunited with his special needs grand dog Starship (the baby), whom he lovingly and devotedly provided care and G-tube feedings for many years prior to Star’s heartbreaking crossing over the Rainbow Bridge. Undoubtably, they will be sharing some I.C.E. (ice cream) in eternity.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, May 18th, at 9 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rocco’s Church, Johnston. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday morning from 8-9 a.m. Burial will take place in St. Ann Cemetery.
