Giuseppe Popolla, Sr
81, of Cranston, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2014 peacefully at home. He was the beloved husband of Concetta (Schiappa) Popolla. Born in Fondi, Italy, he was a son of the late Vincenzo and Pasqualina (DiTrochia) Popolla.
Giuseppe was the owner of Joe and Son's Service Center on Atwood Avenue in Cranston. He established the business in November 1967. It is a 2nd generation business currently operated by his two sons, Frank and Joe Jr. He was a proud, hardworking man who enjoyed being at the shop daily surrounded by his friends.
He is survived by his loving children, Giuseppe Popolla, Jr. and his wife Joanna of Johnston, and Frank Popolla of Cranston; cherished grandchildren Anthony Rand, Vincent, Joseph, and Jenna Popolla; dear siblings Luigi of Carmichael, CA, Yolanda of Rome, Italy, Palmina of Sperlongo, Italy, and Concetta of Fondi, Italy. He was also the brother of the late Atelio, Sandina, and Lisa Popolla.
Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Wednesday at 10 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Cranston Street, Cranston. Burial will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS will be Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m.
