85 of Johnston, transitioned into Eternal life on September 12, 2014 after a long illness. Gloria was the daughter of the late Antonio Zangari and Serfina Petrone Zangari. Gloria was the devoted wife of 61 years to John J. Ferrara. Gloria was a loving and caring sister to her six late siblings, Elizabeth Paolo, Julia Parrillo, and Norma Andrade and, Orlando, Armondo and Antonio Zangari. Gloria leaves behind two precious daughters whom she loved more than anything in life; Jean Marie Ferrara and Leisa Frances Ferrara both of Johnston. Her daughters selflessly dedicated their lives to caring for her throughout her illness. Gloria also leaves behind a wonderful brother in law, Anthony Ferrara who also contributed to her care and whom she loved very much. Gloria also had a group of friends affectionately known as "TEAM GLORIA"; Stephen DiPrete of Cranston, Esther Rhau of Providence, Holly J. Lewis of North Providence, Lidiana and David Freitas of Providence and her niece Kristen Gagnon of Johnston. They helped to make each day of her life more fulfilled and engaged her in many activities. Gloria also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who all refer to her as "Auntie Glor". Her closest niece and nephew, Martha & Walter Gagnon provided support, guidance and unconditional love to her and her family as her illness progressed. Gloria lived in her neighborhood for many years surrounded by special neighbors who extended their friendship and kindness; Angelo & Gloria Capobianco, Caroline Tartaglia and Frank & Monica Picon. She was embraced and excellently cared for by a large group of medical professionals from the VNA of New England, Emergency Staff and 2nd floor Pavilion of Our Lady of Fatima Hospital and Johnston E.M.T.s. Gloria enjoyed the very simple things in life. Her greatest joy came from being a wife and mother and keeping a beautiful home where everyone loved to visit and enjoy. She gave generously of herself and opened her heart and arms to all who were a part of her life. She was the Original Founder of the Dunkin Donuts of Cranston "Geriatric Hangout". You could always find her and her husband there in the afternoon surrounded by many friends indulging in coffee and laughter. Looking back we choose not to focus on her challenges that she so willingly and defiantly tried to overcome, but to celebrate in the joy in having been a part of her life. Please join us in honoring her.
