Guido De Angelis Jr.

87, of Johnston, passed away on Wednesday, May 28th, at the RI VA Medical Center, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Arlene (Muoio) De Angelis for 46 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Guido Sr., and Elena (Martone) De Angelis. Guido’s journey through life was marked by dedication, service, and craftsmanship.

Following his graduation from LaSalle Academy, Guido demonstrated unwavering commitment to his country by enlisting in the United States Army. He served proudly during the Berlin Wall conflict, achieving the rank of staff sergeant in the 81st Airborne Division as part of the 107 Signal Co (SPT). His military service was characterized by courage and duty, and upon his honorable discharge from the Army, he continued to serve in the Rhode Island Army National Guard for many years before receiving his second honorable discharge.

With a foundation built on discipline and skill, Guido pursued higher education at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), where he cultivated his passion for artistry and precision. He later established his own business, De Angelis Tool & Die, where he excelled as a hub and die cutter and tool maker. Guido’s expertise extended beyond his business; he generously shared his knowledge and experience with aspiring artisans by teaching at RISD, nurturing the next generation of craftsmen.

Throughout his life, Guido remained an active member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), where he contributed to the advancement of engineering and manufacturing practices.

Besides his wife Arlene, he is survived by his loving children, Tina Annaldo and her husband Robert of Cranston, Guido “Bart” De Angelis and his wife Amy of Westerly, David De Angelis of Portsmouth, Cindy De Angelis-Duffy of San Diego, CA, and Peter De Angelis and his wife Brittany of Johnston. He was the cherished grandfather of Anthony Pagano, Alyssa Martins, Nathan, Arianna, Simon, Joseph, Victoria, Angelina, Dante De Angelis, Reese, Jack and Bette De Angelis-Duffy. He was the great-grandfather of two and brother of the late Cheryl DeRita.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, June 5th, at 9:00 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Thomas Church, Providence. Burial with military honors will be held in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS: Wednesday 5:00-8:00 p.m.
