Mr. Tavares was an airplane mechanic at the former Quonset Point Naval Air Station for many years before retiring. He was a WW-II U.S. Army Air Force veteran.
He is survived by his children, Karen A. Phillips and Harold J. Tavares, Jr., both of Cranston; 3 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Eleanor Gonsalves of Warwick, Ronald Tavares of VA, Roy Tavares of FL and Joseph Tavares of WA. He was the brother of the late Raymond, Oliver and Daniel Tavares.
Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Monday at 10 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church, Cranston St., Cranston at 11 a.m.
Burial with Military Honors will be at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
