James devoted 35 years of his professional life working for Coca Cola USA, excelling in sales and marketing. After retiring, he continued to apply his expertise through consulting, leaving a lasting impact in the industry. An alumnus of Utica College, he earned an associate degree that propelled him into his fruitful career.
A proud U.S. Army Veteran, James served during the Korean War, embodying the values of duty and service. His commitment to his country was a testament to his character, which also shone brightly in his personal life.
For forty years, he and his beloved wife, Dorothy Marie (Moore) Hoffman, shared their lives as "snowbirds" between their homes on Marco Island, Florida and Narragansett, Rhode Island. Their 66 years of marriage was a testament to their deep love and companionship, built from their high school sweethearts' beginnings.
James was passionate about many things in life. He loved to travel and was an avid sports fan, cheering for the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, and Boston Celtics. He also enjoyed golf, the ocean and had a green thumb, showcasing his talents in landscaping.
James was immensely proud of his family. He cherished the moments spent with his children—Steve Hoffman (Martha), Greg Hoffman (Donna), Jeff Hoffman (Linda), Valerie Hoffman, Karen Corcoran, and Joanne Retallick—as well as the joy brought by his grandchildren: Sonny, Erika, Kyle, Kristen, Tracey, Jeffrey, Jillian and Zak. His legacy will also live on through his great-grandchildren, Laurell, Emersyn, Ainsley, Dorothy, Reese, Penny, and Boston, who brought him immense pride and happiness.
James is predeceased by his beloved wife, Dorothy, and his parents, Ralph E. and Marion (Hall) Hoffman. He also mourns the loss of his brothers, Ralph and Russell Hoffman, and his son-in-law, Ken Corcoran.
His services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Health Hospice, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
