James E. 'Jimmy the Barber' Zoglio, Sr
83, of Coventry, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 surrounded by family and loved ones at home after a battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Audrey (Bedrosian) Zoglio. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Pietro and Elizabeth (McGrath) Zoglio.
He was the loving father of Lori A. Sullivan of Coventry, James Zoglio, Jr. and his wife Donna of West Warwick, David B. Zoglio and his wife Marlo of Cranston, and the late, his cherished Robin M. Zoglio; grandfather of 5 beautiful grandchildren Michaela and Jami Zoglio, Andrew and Maeghan Sullivan, Jacob Zoglio and great grandfather of 6. He was the twin brother of Celia Capuano of Johnston and the late Robert and Raymond Zoglio, Ella Lombari, Mary Barrett, and Teresa Pezzullo. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He also cherished his 75 year friendship with Billy Kennedy and Louie Abanante, as well as his longtime friendship with Walter McLaughlin.
He grew up in Providence and joined the Navy and served proudly during the Korean War. He retired from the DMV after 23 years, and was a barber for over 57 years and just 2 years ago closed his barber shop doors. Socializing with his barber shop customers was one of his greatest joys. He also loved golfing and family cookouts, and going to PawSox games with family.
Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Monday at 8:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 538 Broadway, Providence. Burial with Military Honors will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS will be Sunday from 4 - 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of James E. Zoglio, Sr. and his beloved daughter Robin M. Zoglio, may be made to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care of RI 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904.
