Janet L. Caldwell

born June 28, 1944 in Providence, RI passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of service in her professional and personal life.

Janet's career was marked by her commitment to the North Kingstown community. She held the role of Fire Chief's Secretary for the North Kingstown Fire Department for more than two decades, where she supported the vital work of the department and demonstrated her dedication to public safety. Beyond her public service, she found success and joy as a realtor, taking pride in helping people find their perfect home. 

Her family remembers her not only for her contributions to her community but also for her love and support. Janet is survived by her daughter Lyn Morin (Andrew), along with her two grandchildren, who will cherish her memory.

Janet was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William H. Caldwell, Jr., her parents, Albert and Norma (Reardon) Kirkutis and her grandfather, William "Bill" Reardon who was a joyful presence in her life.

The family thanks the gifted staff at Westerly Hospital, The Seasons and Saint Elizabeth Home in East Greenwich, VNA of Care New England Hospice, and especially Kim Olson of Senior Care Concepts. Janet’s final months of comfort and peace would not have been possible without the dedication, compassion and kindness of her care teams.

A committal service will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026 at 2pm in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited to gather in the administration building parking lot at 1:45pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the NKFFA Scholarship Fund, PO Box 844, North Kingstown, RI 02852.
