Janice J. (VanNess) DeSimone

88, of West Warwick, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Briarcliffe Gardens Memory Care Assisted Living, Johnston. She was the beloved wife to the late Anthony DeSimone Sr. Janice was born in Weleetka, Oklahoma, a daughter of the late Carl J. VanNess and Rhoda (Duncan) DeShoung. Mrs. DeSimone worked in the medical field as a medical assistant for many years until her retirement. She enjoyed making crafts, traveling with her husband and baking delicious pies and cookies for her family and friends.

She is survived by loving children, Stephen DeSimone and his wife Patty of Attleboro and Julie Tennett and her husband Robert of Cranston. She was the mother of the late Anthony DeSimone Jr. Mother-in-law to Anne DeSimone of Woonsocket. Cherished grandmother of Ashley DeSimone, Anthony DeSimone III and his wife Laura, Brittney Tennett and Robert Tennett; step great grandmother of Olivia and Jayden. Sister to the late June Prisky, Jack VanNess, Jarl VanNess, John Barrow. She was the beloved sister-in-law to Ralph DeSimone and his wife Norma, John DeSimone and his wife Carol, and Mary Lapati. Janice leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday, May 23, at 9:00 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, West Warwick. Burial will be held in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS: Saturday morning from 8:00-9:00 a.m.
