89, of Cranston, passed away peacefully with her son by her side after a 12 year battle with Alzheimer 's disease on Thursday, May 1, 2014. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Giuseppe and Emma (Fuscone) DiLibero.
As a child, she loved to go to the Scituate Reservoir and pick blueberries with her two sisters. She loved vegetable gardening, especially tomatoes and zucchini.
She worked for the Goodyear Footwear Corp. up until she married in 1947 to the late Joseph V. Fortuna (CPD, Ret.) and had two sons, Edward J. Fortuna and the late Joseph V. Fortuna, Jr., who succumbed to cancer at the age of 39 years. She was also the sister of the late Marie Soprano, Giovannia Silva, Giuseppe Jr., Emilio, Anthony, Luigi, Enrico, and Armando DiLibero.
She taught ceramic classes in her home for over thirty years and also loved to paint over photographs and enjoyed sewing. She was a wonderful mother and homemaker , who loved to cook and bake especially pizza, apple pies and Easter treats. As her children, we never knew what a babysitter was, in our early years or otherwise.
Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 237 Garden Hills Drive, Cranston. Burial will take place in Our Risen Christ Garden Mausoleum in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS will be Wednesday from 5 - 8 p.m.
