72, of Cranston, RI, formerly of Maine, passed away on Thursday, April 06, 2017 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence, RI. He was the beloved husband of Sharon (Brownlee) Trecartin. Born in Lubec, ME he was a son of the late Dr. Julien and Ensena (Gay) Trecartin.
Upon graduating from the University of Maine, he married the love of his life Sharon on September 2, 1967 in Westbrook, ME. They moved to his hometown, where he taught math at Lubec High School. His summer employment with the US Customs Service led to a full-time position as an inspector in St. Pamphile, Quebec and later in Calais, ME. After transferring to the US Immigration Service, Jeff served as an inspector in Calais and in Harrisburg, PA, then as an examiner in Pittsburg, PA. His next assignment was at the INS headquarters in Washington, D.C. There he worked in various positions including the Office of Refugee and Parole in charge of humanitarian parole. From there he transferred to Frankfurt, Germany as the assistant OIC and later OIC of the INS office attached to the US Consulate. His final post was in Providence, RI as OIC of the Department of Homeland Security Office. He retired after thirty eight years of service.
Jeff loved spending time with his family, especially with his children and grandchildren whom he supported in their many activities. While in Germany, he and Sharon enjoyed traveling and visiting many countries in Europe. He was a life-long and die-hard fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, reading, listening to music especially, “Willie” and keeping in touch with his longtime friends through social media.
He was predeceased by his parents, his sister and brother-in-law Joyce and Ronald Joy, his sister-in-law Suzie Trecartin and his in-laws Paul and Rachel Brownlee.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving children, Susan Allard Millington and her husband Ted of Windham, ME, Jennifer Wiseman and her husband Phillip of Spring, TX, and Jeffrey Darren Trecartin of Cranston; cherished grandchildren, Matthew Trecartin, Michelle Allard Osborne and her husband Chris, Brandon Trecartin, and Cassie Wiseman; dear siblings, David Trecartin and his wife Sharron of Beverly Hills, FL, Edward Trecartin and his late wife Susie of Belton Lake, TX, and the late Joyce and Ronald Joy; sister-in-law Terry Gelberg and her husband Mike. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
His funeral services are private. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
