Jerry F. Barone, a loving husband, devoted father, and proud Marine Corps Veteran, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026, in Providence, RI, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on February 4, 1940, in Providence, son of the late Alberto and Angelina (Lombardo) Barone. Jerry lived a life rich with experiences, travel, and adventures that touched the hearts of many.
Throughout his career, Jerry traveled across the country with his family, making their way from Rhode Island to California & Mississippi, Alabama where he work for Liton Ship Building, then to New York and New Jersey where he worked for Gibbs & Cox. Eventually returning to Rhode Island where he worked for General Dynamics as a Designer and then Department. Supervisor dedicating himself to his role, until retiring after 29 years of service. An avid history buff, particularly with an emphasis on military history, Jerry ensured that his children have memories that would last a lifetime. He cherished the time spent traveling about the United States, making it a point to capture photographs of his children beside any cannon they encountered.
This zest for life extended beyond his travels; he was an avid collector of various treasures. Jerry’s educational journey began at Cranston East High School, followed by a degree in Architecture and Design from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). His creativity and skills were evident not only in his professional pursuits but also in his personal interests. He was known for his dependable nature and his willingness to help anyone in need, embodying the essence of a true family man.
Throughout his life, Jerry exemplified the qualities of a loving husband and father. He was a steadfast partner to his wife, Geraldine "Jeri" (Rivelli) Barone, with whom he shared an incredible bond married for 61 years and together for 65 yrs. Together, they created a nurturing family environment for their children, Jerry P. Barone and Stefanie Barone.
Jerry was not just a father but also a friend, consistently placing his family at the forefront of his priorities. He was affectionately referred to as the “Mayor” among his colleagues, cousins, and friends, always orchestrating gatherings and events that brought joy and connection. Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Jeri, his children, Jerry P. Barone and Stefanie Barone, his sister, Ann Barone, as well as several extended family members who will cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his mother, Angelina (Lombardo) Barone, and his father, Alberto Barone.
His funeral procession will leave at 10:45 am on Monday January 19, 2026, from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston. Committal prayers and military honors will take place at 11:00 am at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation will be held on Sunday January 18, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, at the funeral home.
