JOAN A. (McGOVERN) JOHANSEN

71, of North Scituate, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at the Miriam Hospital in Providence. She was the beloved wife of Walter Johansen for 53 years. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of Antoinette (Dionne) McGovern and the late James McGovern. Joan worked for the Department of Human Services for the State of R.I. for 28 years until her retirement. Besides her husband, she was the devoted mother of Erik Johansen and his wife Lisa of West Greenwich, and the late Steven Johansen; loving grandmother of Kyle, Erika, Zachary, Joshua and Kelsey Johansen; sister of Patricia Brzostecki of West Warwick, and Maureen McGovern of Providence; caring aunt of 7 nieces and nephews. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Thursday at 8:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, North Scituate. Burial will take place in Notre Dame Cemetery, West Warwick. VISITING HOURS will be Wednesday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m.
