Born on August 5th, 1958 in Providence, after fighting ovarian cancer for the past 3 years Joanne passed away on her 67th birthday, surrounded by many loving family members and friends. Joanne was the devoted daughter of the late Americo (Ham) and Anna (McNamara) Lopardo. She graduated from St. Xaviers High School and the Community College of RI, following which she began her work in retail. She then worked for the Providence Gas Company for 7 years before she was hired by then Narragansett Electric. She has been employed by RI Energy for the past 30 years.
A woman of remarkable warmth and kindness, Joanne had an infectious spirit that lit up the room wherever she went. Her generous nature and loyalty fostered lifelong friendships that many cherished deeply. Joanne was very proud of and loyal to her family. She treated her nieces and nephews as if they were her own children and received great joy out of hearing of her many great nieces and nephews. Her relationship with James Jr and Lorenzo was the source of immense joy. Joanne loved the beach, it was her sanctuary.
She is survived by her brothers, Stephen (Brenda), Thomas (Arlene) and Kenneth (Denise), as well as their children Jeffrey Lopardo (Vicky), Kristen Lopardo (Alex Ackerman), Lindsay Fonseca (Mario), Thomas Lopardo, Dante Lopardo (Amanda), Allegra Lopardo (Alexandria), Kenneth Lopardo, James Lopardo (Gina Iannucci) and Nicholas Lopardo.
