Joaquim F. Coelho

Joaquim Coelho of Cranston passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday October 13, 2023, at the age of 87. Joaquim, or Jack as his many friends called him, was born July 25, 1936, in Prados, Portugal and was the son of the late Jose Coelho and Belmira (Fonseca) Coelho.

When Jack was 15 years old, he moved on his own to Angola where he would meet his beautiful wife, Maria (Pereira) Coelho, whom he was married to for 67 years. He lived in Angola for many years and his two lovely children were born there also, Joe Coelho of Florida and Anna (Coelho) Conceicao of Cranston. When a civil war broke out in Angola, Jack and his family moved to the United States and settled in Cranston, RI. He worked many jobs to provide for his family,

In his free time, Jack loved going for walks and watching soccer or listening to it on the radio, especially when the Portugal National team played. However, his biggest passion was watching his beloved Sporting CP play, a Portuguese team based in Lisbon. Anyone that knew him would argue he was their biggest fan in the world. Jack was also a proud member of the Cranston Portuguese Club where he enjoyed spending time with his many friends playing cards and watching soccer games. Jack most loved spending time with his family.

Along with his wife and children, Jack is survived by his grandchildren Adriano Conceicao and his wife Lauren; Michael Conceicao and his wife Kathryn; Brian Conceicao and his wife Samantha. Jack also had four great grandchildren Sophia, Cameron, Cristiano and Domenic. Jack is also survived by his sister Rosa (Coelho) Bernardo, Manuel Coelho, Antonio Coelho and Jose Coelho and many nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by his brother Francisco Coelho and his son in law Jose Conceicao.

His funeral will leave at 9:00 am, Thursday October 19, 2023, from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, RI., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Matthew’s Church, 15 Frances Ave., Cranston. Burial will be private. VISITING HOURS will be held Wednesday from 4:00 – 8:00pm.
