87, of Cranston, passed away on Thursday July 10, 2014 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. He was the beloved husband of Carmella (Travisano) Callahan. John met the love of his life and best friend in 1947 they would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on September 5th.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late John W. and Alice (Garvey) Callahan. John was a U.S. World War II Navy veteran. He worked at Leesona Corporation for 39 years retiring as General Foreman in 1985. He was a member of their softball team, bowling and golf leagues and played in the Saturday golf league at Midville.
Besides his wife he was the devoted father of John Callahan and his wife Beverly, Steven "Chic" Callahan and his wife Deb, Glenn Callahan and his fiancAC.e Karen, Deborah Lemay and her husband Normand, Patricia Giarrusso and her husband Louie; loving grandfather of eleven and loving great-grandfather of seven. He was the dear brother of Francis Callahan and his wife Carol and the late Dorothy Smith, Margorite McCrave and Mary "Regina" Callahan.
Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, on Tuesday at 10 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church 1525 Cranston St. Cranston at 11 a.m. Burial with military honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
