John T. Hickey, III

72, of Saunderstown, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Monday, May 7, 2018 at home. He was the beloved husband of thirty-eight years to Amy L. (Thomas) Hickey. Born in Brooklyn, NY he was a son of the late John T. Hickey, Jr. and Gabrielle (Glynn) Hickey. He was employed by Met-Life Insurance Company in Tele-communications for over fifty years, before retiring in 2014. John was an US Army veteran serving three tours in Vietnam. He was a former member of the Yamaha Star Motorcycle Association. Photography was one of John’s favorite pastimes, as well as fly fishing. John was a crewman on J-29 and J-37 sailboats and participated in many races and regattas.

Besides his wife he is survived by his siblings, Geoffrey Hickey of San Leandro, CA, Nancy Algieri of East Quogue, Long Island, NY, Joseph Hickey of Oakland, CA, Robert Hickey of Cottonwood, AZ, Stephen Hickey of New York City, NY, and Paul Hickey of Brooklyn, NY. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.in the Nardolillo Funeral Home, SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Road (Rte. 1A) Narragansett. Burial with Military Honors will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
