84, of Johnston, passed away peacefully at home on Christmas Day, Wednesday December 25th, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Judith Cena (Burford) Joseph. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Elias and Weeda (Mona) Joseph. John graduated from Woonsocket High School. He was a US army veteran serving in Japan during the Korean conflict. He retired from Fleet Bank in Providence after 40 years as Vice President. John was an athlete and avid sports fan. He played semi-pro football and volleyball, where his team won the 1964 National Championship. He loved to golf and was an ardent Fisherman. He leaves his children, Tamara Joseph of Johnston, Jennifer (Joseph) Coccia and her husband, David Coccia of Lincoln, Elizabeth Joseph and Gerry McGraw of Cranston, and a Granddaughter Jenna Cean (Coccia) Gonzalez and her husband, Ricky Gonzalez of North Providence), David and Gina (Casale) Coccia, and Deanna (Coccia) Phillips and her husband, Dennis Phillips. He was the brother of Dorothy Cornelison of Rancho Cordova California, Agnes Joseph of Woonsocket, Doris (Joseph) Rowey of Lincoln and Joseph Joseph of Woonsocket. He leaves several nieces and nephews. He also leaves his Jack Russell Terrier, "Willie" his loyal companion and friend. John was a passionate philanthropist who contributed to several causes. A man of great honor and integrity, he was loved by many and will be sorely missed. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of his life between 2&6 on Sunday, December 29th, at 9 Riata Dr. in Lincoln.
