91, of Cranston, passed away on Sunday December 28, 2014 at Miriam Hospital in Providence. He was the beloved husband of Anna (Jacavone) Macari. Born in Cranston, he was the son of the late Pasquale and Angelina (Zoglio) Macari. John was a WW-II U.S. Army veteran with the Combat Engineers and also fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a Past State Deputy of the K of C and a member of Scalabrini Council. He was a plant manager for Mellor Optics for 40 years before retiring. John was an accomplished accordionist and played with the Silvertones.
Besides his wife he is survived by his children John Macari and his fiancAC. Debra Zaino of Cranston, Pasco Macari and his wife Teddy of Dallas, Texas and Stephen Macari and his wife Karen of Cranston, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was the brother of Ann Marie Tanzi of Cranston and the late Joseph Macari.
Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory 1278 Park Ave. Cranston on Saturday at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church, 1525 Cranston St. Cranston at 10 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
Visiting hours are Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
