John C. Magnone

93, of Cranston, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at RI Hospital, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (A’Hearn) Magnone for 63 years. Born in Cranston, he was the son of the late Vincenzo and Madeline (Lipartiti) Magnone. He was a US Air Force veteran and US Army Reserve retiree, serving through the Korean, Vietnam, and Operation Desert Shield / Desert Storm wars. John started his career in education at parochial and public schools throughout RI and ended his career as a counselor in the Cranston School System. Upon retiring John and Pat moved to El Paso, TX for many years. He was an avid Red Sox fan watching them in Spring Training all the way through to the very last game of the year.  Enjoyed playing golf, reading, and learning as much and as often as possible.

Besides his wife Pat, he is survived by his loving children, David Magnone of Dalton, NH, Michelle Zoglio and her husband Joseph III of Cranston, and Michael Magnone of Norton, MA. He was the brother of Robert Magnone of Cranston and Norma D’Antuono and her husband the late Ronald of Gloucester. John is also survived by his “adopted daughter” Barbara McKnight, his close extended family, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, and his close friends.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, Jan. 25th, at 10:00 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278, Park Avenue, Cranston, followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Cranston. Burial with military honors will be held in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
