After 93 years of a life rich in love, stories, and family, John E. Marandola, of Cranston, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Miriam Hospital. He was the loving husband of the late Cynthia Marandola for 61 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Enrico and Lucy (Giuliano) Marandola. Mr. Marandola was a graduate of LaSalle High School, Providence College and RI College (M. Ed. Degree).
John was a middle school teacher in the Cranston School Department for over 30 years until his retirement in 1989. During his teaching career as a social studies teacher and department head, he touched the lives of many students and encouraged them to reach for their dreams. John was someone whose faith and service were central to life at Immaculate Conception Church and was a long-standing member of the men’s guild there. He was also a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus. John and his late wife enjoyed spending holidays with families, extensive time traveling, and many fun-filled trips to Foxwoods Casino.
John leaves behind his brother-in-law Joseph N. Bernardoni and his wife Ann of Cranston, his sister-in-law Adriana Marandola of Coventry, seven nieces and nephews, and ten great nieces and nephews. He was also the devoted father of the late John J. Marandola.
Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Friday, February 13th, at 9:00am followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Immaculate Conception Church, Garden Hills Dr, Cranston. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS will be held on FRIDAY MORNING from 8:00am – 9:00am.
