John N. Mottola

John N. Mottola

of Cranston, passed away on Monday March 27, 2017 at Westview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, West Warwick. He was the husband of Mary (Mercurio) Mottola. Born in Cranston, he was the son of the late Anthony and Theresa (Fortini) Mottola. John graduated Burrillville High School and attended Hill College in Woonsocket. He was an Army Air Corps veteran during WW-II serving with the occupational forces in Germany. John worked for the Federal Government as an accountant for the RI Air National Guard for 30 years, retiring in 1975. He was a member of the VFW (Post 1023, Pascoag, RI) AARP, Cranston Senior Center, where he was Past President of the R.S.V.P. Council. Volunteering through R.S.V.P. at City Hall Collection Department in the Cranston School Department as a member of S.A.G.E., with the intergeneration program at Hasbro Children’s Hospital and a member of N.A.R.F.E. (National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

Besides his wife he was the father of John F. Mottola; grandfather of David Mottola; brother of Elda Kermick and the late Angie Pagliarini, Theresa Sherman, Vera McCormick, Freda Williams, Carmella Gosselin, Anna Madancy, Mabel Mottola, Anthony and Edward Mottola.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory 1278 Park Ave. Cranston on Saturday at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Immaculate Conception Church, Cranston at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours are Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
