John Volpigno

Of Providence, RI passed away at the Rhode Island Veterans Home in Bristol, Rhode Island on Sunday, September 28, 2014, just 3 months shy of his 100th birthday. John was the beloved husband of Dora Volpigno, who predeceased him. They were married for 69 wonderful years. John, who was born in Providence, was the son of the late Attilio and Eugenia (Avico) Volpigno. He was predeceased by his brothers, Americo and Pat Volpigno and sisters, Grace Carrara, Julia Sulzbacher and Mary Sheekey. John was employed by the Leviton Manufacturing Company retiring in 1979. He was an avid sports fan. He was especially fond of wrestling. His greatest joy, though, were his three granddaughters and great granddaughter. John will always be remembered for his unwavering strength, kindness and generosity to all. He is survived by his two sons, John Volpigno and his wife Dale of Sutton, MA and Paul Volpigno and his companion Eva Heraver of Warner Springs, CA. He also leaves his wonderful and loving grand daughters, Lisa, Amy and Julie Volpigno, and great granddaughter Giana Volpigno. John leaves many wonderful nieces and nephews of whom he was very fond of. His funeral service will be held in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will be in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS Tuesday 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 245 Waterman Street, Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906.
