John "Jack" S. Duffy

John "Jack" S. Duffy

89, of Wakefield, formerly of Scituate, passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at his home. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary “Ursula” (Mahoney) Duffy for 67 years. He was born in Bussey, Iowa, a son of the late Martin, Jr. and Margaret (Moon) Duffy.

Jack was a member of the Administration at Brown University for 38 years and retired in 1986 as Director of Computing and Information Systems. Jack served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Both Jack and Ursula were founders and active members of Holy Apostles Church. He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and at Rhode Island Hospital. Jack was an avid golfer and was very proud of the three holes-in-one that he made.

Jack is survived by his loving sisters Ann Morrissey of Norwalk, IA, Judith Howard of Knoxville, IA and the late Robert B. Duffy, Martin H. Duffy, III, Dr. James P. Duffy, and Charles T. Duffy.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, June 20th, at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Apostles Church, Cranston. Entombment will be private. Visiting Hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Apostles Church Memorial Society, 800 Pippin Orchard Road, Cranston, RI 02921.
