68, of Johnston, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at RI Hospital, Providence. He was the loving husband of Elaine (Rufo) Lyden for 36 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late John R. Lyden, Sr., and Florence (Butler) Lyden. Mr. Lyden was a purchasing and production manager for many years until his retirement. After his retirement he was the owner of Jacks Hockey Shop in Cranston. Jack was a hockey coach for the Edgewood youth program, Rhode Island Saints, La Salle Academy and most recently the Dighton-Rehoboth Regional-Seekonk High School co-op. Jack was a mentor for all his student athletes. He was known for his leadership and generosity towards his family, friends and everyone who came into his life. Jack was a graduate of Bryant University; he loved to travel, antique cars, going to Foxwoods and Twin River.
Besides his wife, he survived by his loving children, John R. Lyden III of North Providence and Marissa Lyden of Johnston. He was the brother of Elaine Jourdain of Warwick and was the uncle to many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held on Monday, July 10th, at 9:00 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Rocco’s Church, Johnston. Burial will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
