age 97, formerly of North Providence passed away on November 1, 2023. He was the husband of the late Irene C. (Ventresca) Bruno.
Born in Altoona, PA, he was a son of the late Daniel and Angelina (Temmafonte) Bruno.
He was a Veteran of WWII, serving in the US Army he fought in the European Theater of operation; and achieved medal of honors in bravery, shooting and the good conduct medal. He and his infantry were shelled in Germany, from this battle the famous code name Red River Valley originated.
He earned a BS from Bryant College in 1949 where he wrote plays and was involved with dramatics.
Mr. Bruno was the founder and owner of JIBCO Industries, a religious manufacturing company for many years before retiring. He was a dedicated member of the Woonasquatucket Rotary for many years, served 2 terms as president and received the prestigious Paul Harris Fellow.
He always practiced the 4 way test: Is it the truth, is it fair to all concerned, is it beneficial to all concerned, will it build goodwill and better friendships.
He was the first recipient of the Small Business person of the year and was honored in Washington, DC. He was Chairman of the Small Business Development Center at Bryant College and Chairman of the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce.
He leaves his son, Dr. David J. Bruno and his wife Lisa of Narragansett; four grandchildren, Daniel, James, Erika and David J., II; and three great-grandchildren, Logan, Luke and Vivian. He was the brother of the late Vincent Bruno and Marie Bruno DiPippo.
His funeral will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023 at 10am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory-SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Road, (Rt. 1A), Narragansett followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 864 Point Judith Road, Narragansett. Burial with Military Honors will be in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. VISITING HOURS Monday morning from 9-10am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516.
