Joseph Thomas Cappalli, "Joey", aged 21 days, passed away in the early morning hours of Thursday, June 5th, in the loving arms of his mother. At the time of his death, Joey was also surrounded in love by family and caregivers at the Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital.
Joseph was the beloved son of Cara M. Cappalli. He was the cherished grandson of Ann M. (Procaccini) Cappalli of Meriden, CT, and James and Wendy Cappalli of Warwick; adored nephew of Keri A. and Paul M. Degen of Stratham, NH, and anxiously awaited cousin of Andrew and Burke. Joey is also survived by his honorary grandparents, Robert and Joanne Patenaude of Frederick, MD. He will be dearly missed by his loving extended family, including many great-aunts, uncles and cousins.
Joey was the answer to his mother's every prayer, and was waited for with joyful expectation. Though Joey arrived and departed far too soon, he brought great joy and happiness and touched so many lives in such a brief time. As such, the family would like to thank the nurses, doctors, and other staff of the Yale Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for the incredible care provided to Joey and the entire family.
Calling hours will be held at the Nardolillo Funeral Home & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Thursday, June 12th from 5:00-8:00pm. Joseph's funeral will be held on Friday, June 13th at 10:00am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am in Saint Anthony's Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence. Entombment will take place in Saint Ann's Cemetery Mausoleum, Cranston.
