Joseph D. DiZoglio, M.D., FACOG

87, of East Greenwich, passed away peacefully at home with his beautiful, loving family by his side on Monday, December 29th, 2025.

Joe, known as Joey by his immediate family and friends, was born on St. Joseph's Day, March 19th, 1938. There was never a question as to what his first name would be, given the fact that his four immigrant grandparents were from Southern Italy, where it was considered an honor to be born on this saint's day. Joe was the son of the late Enrico "Harry" DiZoglio and Concetta DiZoglio née Martone who resided in Johnston for many years. He leaves behind his lovely, caring wife and soulmate of 34 years, Dr. Beata DiZoglio née Zakowicz, FACOG.

Joe remains a forever humble Eagle Scout. Ever since a young age he was a curious, questioning student of cosmology. After graduating from Classical High School in Providence, Class of 1955; College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, Class of 1959; and Tufts Medical School, Class of 1963; Joe became a Board Certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist, cofounded Broadway Ob/Gyn, and served on the staff of Women and Infants Hospital for over 50 years. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force Medical Corps, serving as a Captain in the Department of Ob/Gyn, in Homestead, Florida during the Vietnam War.

Joe was the younger brother of the late Angela Ragosta and Henry “Harry” F. DiZoglio. He is survived by his younger brother, Gregory J. DiZoglio and his wife Robin A. DiZoglio of Cranston. He is also survived by his six children: Thomas DiZoglio of Brattleboro, Vermont; James DiZoglio (wife, Lee) of Los Gatos, California; Sarah Macrina (husband, Eric) of Marblehead, Massachusetts; Rebecca DiZoglio of Marin County, California; Dr. Joseph DiZoglio Jr., (wife, Dr. Kate Telma) of Verona, Wisconsin, and Jan Benjamin DiZoglio of Three Forks, Montana — as well as his five delightful grandchildren: Ani, Zach, Luke, Will, and Qi Wei. He leaves behind many wonderful nephews, nieces, cousins, family members, and colleagues of whom he was very fond.

Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Apostles Church on 800 Pippin Orchard Rd, Cranston, on Saturday morning, January 3rd, 2026 at 10 AM. Inurnment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, Joe would greatly appreciate donations to his favorite charity, Pawtucket Soup Kitchen, PO Box 3102 Pawtucket, RI, 02861 or donations online at pawtucketsoupkitchen.org
