Joseph P. "JoJo" McDonald, Jr. Esq.

October 3, 1979 — September 14, 2016

Joseph P. "JoJo" McDonald, Jr. Esq.

36, of Wynding Brook Dr., Rocky Hill, CT, formerly of North Providence, passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Hartford Hospital.

Born in Providence, the son of Joseph P. Sr. and Deborah M. ( Manzo ) McDonald of  North Providence, he resided in Rocky Hill, CT for the past 10 years.

Joe graduated from The University of Connecticut School of Education (2001). He received his law degree from Roger Williams University School of Law in Rhode Island (2004) and founded McDonald Law Associates (2006).

Joe built his law practice over the last 10 years in New Britain Connecticut. He was highly successful, which he attributed in a recent interview (The New Britain Herald), to very hard work, preparation, personality and appreciating the people who worked for him. Work was not the only factor that made him the widely and deeply loved person he was. He enjoyed life to the fullest; he is described by family, friends and colleagues as being positive, charismatic, funny, energetic, extremely loyal and loving. Family meant everything to him and he never met a person he didn’t consider a friend. The extent of his kindness and generosity toward people was overwhelming. When Joe discovered, whether friend or family was in need; he would step up to the plate immediately even if they never asked. He received great joy in giving and helping people. Joe recognized that God had blessed him abundantly and wanted to share his prosperity with others who were not as fortunate. He was an avid New York Yankees, New England Patriots, Los Angeles Lakers and UCONN Husky fan. He attended many sporting events, including Super Bowls, World Series, Final Fours, NCAA Bowl Games and NBA Finals. He was always taking a selfie, letting everyone know he was in the front row.

Words cannot express the depth of loss felt by his family, friends, associates and clients. Joe’s passion was practicing law and he was outstanding in his career. The legal community has lost a great attorney and the rest of the world has lost a great man.

Besides his parents, he was the grandson of Mary ( Sullo ) Manzo of North Providence and the late Anthony Manzo and the late Walter and Alice ( Clarkin ) McDonald. He is also survived by his brothers Anthony McDonald of Orlando, FL and Michael McDonald of North Providence; and his girlfriend, Nicole LaVerde of CT.  JoJo also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Wednesday, September 21st at 11a.m. in North Providence Assembly of God, 244 Lexington Ave., North Providence, RI 02904.  Burial will be private.  VISITING HOURS are Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the NARDOLILLO  FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, RI 02910.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Teen Challenge RI, 572 Elmwood Ave., Providence, RI 02907.
