95, of Johnston, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, May 1, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Antonietta (Todisco) Stromberg. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Gunner and Mary (Hunt) Stromberg.
Joseph was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having honorably served his country during the Korean War. Following his military service, he built a commendable career as a carpenter and home builder, self-employed and driven by a strong work ethic. Later, he became the owner of Laminating Unlimited, demonstrating his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to his craft.
Known affectionately by all who knew him as the "Sand Man," Joseph was a man of many passions and talents. He enjoyed bowling and playing cards, finding joy in these pastimes. His love for the outdoors was evident in his dedication to gardening, particularly tending to his flowers and vegetable garden with great care. In his earlier years, he enjoyed golfing, and throughout his life, he was an avid New England sports fan. Joseph was also a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus, reflecting his commitment to faith and community.
Besides his wife Antonietta, he is also survived by his children: Cheryl Berube and her husband Robert of Cranston; Dale Davino of Florida; Joseph Stromberg Jr. of Coventry; and Keith Stromberg of Foster.; stepfather of Joseph Marino of Cranston and James Marino of Coventry. Cherished grandfather to eight grandchildren and a proud great-grandfather to two. He was the brother of Claire Lowe of Coventry and Richard Stromberg of Narragansett, the late William Stromberg, Ruth Reid, and Ann Daley.
His funeral will be held on Friday, May 8th, at 10:00 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, North Scituate. Entombment will be held in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS: Thursday 5:00-7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Church, 144 Danielson Pike, North Scituate, RI 02857, or to Beacon Hospice, 1 Catamore Blvd., East Providence, RI 02914.
