76, of Providence passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, September 24, 2014. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Barratini) Vileno. He is survived by his daughter Cara Vileno of Washington, DC , son Aram Vileno and daughter-in-law Dyanne of Providence and loving grandchildren Sylvia and Alex. He was the former husband of Beverly Kinoian Vileno. Joseph was the brother of John Vileno and his late wife Elizabeth, Anne Nolan, Elizabeth Rollinson and her late husband Milton, Nancy Vileno, Barbara Sullivan and her husband Bert, Gerrie Bastia and her husband Tony, Patricia Costantino and her husband Sam and brother-in-law Anthony Corrente. He was predeceased by his sisters Lucy Simpson, Nita Costantino and Catherine Corrente, all of Warwick. Joseph was a 1956 graduate of LaSalle Academy and a 1961 graduate of Providence College. He was active in the U.S. Marine Reserve in the early 1960s and earned a Master's Degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. As a consultant on housing and urban development he worked in Boston and San Francisco, but his heart belonged to Providence. He lived in Providence for more than 50 years and was a candidate for mayor in the late 1980s. He hosted a local cable talk show, Viewpoint, which addressed local politics and community affairs. Joseph was beloved by his family and friends for his passion and concern with equality for all people. His engaging spirit will be missed by his many nieces and nephews. His VISITING HOURS will held in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Tuesday evening 5-8 p.m. Committal prayers and burial will be private.
