Juana (Velasquez) Sanchez

79, of Providence, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 surrounded by her loving family, at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center, Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late Hugo Sanchez. Born in the Dominican Republic, she was a daughter of the late Mauricio and Ofelia Velasquez.

Juana was a true entrepreneur. She owned and operated several different businesses but was most passionate about her cattle farm in DR. She was a kind, generous person to all who knew her, opening her door to anyone who needed help. She enjoyed knitting blankets, clothing and other various items for her family. Her greatest joy in life was being “Grandma”.

She is survived by her loving children, Victor Regino of Providence, Catalina Regino of Cranston, Gloria Regino of MA, Hugo Sanchez of Warwick, Francisco Sanchez of Providence and Juan Sanchez of FL; cherished grandchildren, Andric, Amanda, Erica, Jennifer, Cynthia, Laura, Stefan, Alicia, Sabrina, Whitney, Jessica, Jorge, Justin, Joel, Adrian, Marc Anthony and Aryana; she is also survived by 10 great grandchildren; dear siblings, Juan, Ignacio, Ruth, Maria and Cecilia Velasquez. She was predeceased by three brothers and sisters.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Monday at 8:45 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Patrick Church, 244 Smith St, Providence, RI 02908. Burial will follow in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence. VISITING HOURS will be held on Sunday from 1 – 8 pm.
