Our beloved mother, Kathleen M. (Trainor) Quinn, 88, of Narragansett and Lakewood Ranch, FL, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2026, at Westerly Hospital after a short illness.
Born in Seekonk, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Alice (McCarthy) Trainor. She married John H. “Jack” Quinn in 1959, and they settled in Cranston, where they raised their four children. In 1974, they purchased a beach house in Sand Hill Cove, where the family spent every summer. Kathleen worked as a teacher’s aide with the Cranston School Department, helping children with special needs and she was a longtime communicant of St. Mary Star of the Sea Parish, where her faith remained an enduring part of her life.
After Jack’s passing in 1993, Kathleen set out to see the world. From Alaska’s Glacier Bay to the shores of the Mediterranean, she lived a life of adventure and loved nothing more than to share the stories of her travels. She was also a fierce golfer bringing energy and spirit to every round. Above all, she was never happier than when she was surrounded by friends and family in celebration, always the life of the party.
In addition to Jack, she was predeceased by her brothers, Francis “Bud” Trainor and John H. “Jack” Trainor Jr., and her sisters, Arlene Gagnon, Shirley McCarron, and Alice Veltman.
She is survived by her four children, Colleen Galletly and her husband Bruce of Tiverton, John Quinn and his wife Kerry of Dana Point, CA, Patrick Quinn and his wife Randi of South Kingstown, and Matthew Quinn and his wife Britt of New Canaan, CT; her eight grandchildren, Sydney Loukas and her husband Greg, Jack Quinn and his wife Anna, Riley, Mae, Makena, Regan, Lilli, and Felix; and her great-grandson, John Henry “Jack” Loukas.
Her funeral and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Continuum Hospice, 1350 Division Road, Suite 203, West Warwick, RI 02893.
