Kenneth R. Sargent

84, of Cranston, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, October 12, 2026, at Lincolnwoods Nursing Home in North Providence. He was the devoted husband of Kathleen (Cacchiotti) Sargent.

Born in Newport, he was the son of the late Gardner and Alice (Angel) Sargent. Raised along the Rhode Island coast, Kenneth moved to Cranston thirty years ago, yet he remained deeply connected to his Newport roots. Each summer he returned to Second Beach, where he found quiet joy relaxing by the ocean, collecting sea glass, reading, and watching the waves roll in. He also took pleasure in lobstering during the summer months.

Mr. Sargent began his career in special education before teaching at Western Hills Middle School, where he served students in the classroom until his retirement.

In addition to his beloved wife Kathleen, he is survived by his son, Brian Sargent of Newport. He was predeceased by his cherished daughter, Natalie Sargent. He was the adored grandfather of Kaylin Brietzke and her husband Zach of Florida, and Shea Sargent of South Kingstown, and the proud great-grandfather of Zara and Zander Brietzke. He was also the brother of the late Shirley Hartfield and Paul Sargent, and leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss him dearly, as well as his loving dogs Maggie and Happy and his African grey parrot Birdie.

Kathleen extends her heartfelt gratitude to the Cacchiotti family for their unwavering love and support of both her and Kenneth.
