46, of Greene, formerly of Johnston, left his earthly body to soar into the universe on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Providence, January 8, 1980, A free spirit, Kyle was the beloved son of Pamela Boffi Drapcho and Michael Hetherman Sr, and Stepfather Robert Drapcho.
Cherished brother of Michael Hetherman Jr, Amanda Hetherman, step brother to Dr. Benjamin Drapcho and Kerry Drapcho. Treasured Uncle to Zoey Hetherman.
He also leaves many Aunts, Uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Frank and Elizabeth Boffi and Henry and Catherine Hetherman.
Kyle grew up in Johnston, he made friends easily and has remained close to all of his childhood friends. His “brothers”. He excelled at sports, playing hockey for the West Bay Islanders as a preteen and then playing Football for the Johnston High School Panthers.
Kyle worked at Electric Boat for 8 yrs before changing course and enrolling in the CDA Technical Institute in Jacksonville Florida, becoming a Commercial Diver, a job he truly loved.
He joined the Pile Drivers and Divers Local 56 out of Boston Mass, where he worked as a specialized marine contractor, welding and commercial diving.
Always an adventurous soul, Kyle loved traveling, visiting Amsterdam and traveling cross country for his work. He was creative, artistic and our "Macgyver" able to figure out the most complex problems or repair whatever we put in front of him.
As a kid he loved skateboarding, snowboarding and recently paragliding.
He was everyone’s best friend and “uncle” to all of his friend’s children. His smile was contagious and his wit was unmatched. He loved his family and friends fiercely and that love will carry us forward.
His absence leaves an ache in our hearts but his love and spirit will live on in all those he touched.
Fly high sweet Kyle.
A Celebration of Kyle’s life will be held at the Roger Williams Park Casino, 1000 Elmwood Ave, Providence, RI on May 31, 2026 from 2-7pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: Whale and Dolphin Conservation USA or to Pancreatic Cancer Research.
