Laber "Sonny" Russo, Jr.

82, of Providence, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Roger Williams Medical Center, Providence. He was the beloved husband of sixty-one years to Lorraine (Fraieli) Russo. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Liberato and Elsie (Conti) Russo. Sonny was the owner of the former L. Russo Trucking Company for fifty-four years before his retirement. He was also the owner of Russo Reality since 2008. Sonny owned numerous race horses along with his partners, trainers and jockeys. His passion was horse racing, dining with his friends of over fifty years and spending time with his granddaughters and family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Besides his wife he is survived by his loving daughter Michele A. Russo of Providence. Sonny was the cherished grandfather of Melody and Michele Grieco, both of Providence. He was the brother of David M. Russo and his wife Elaine of Smithfield.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Pius V Church, 55 Elmhurst Avenue, Providence. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS Wednesday 4-8 p.m. in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston.
