Lawrence D. Long

92, of Moorland Ave., Cranston, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at RI Hospital in Providence. He was the beloved husband of the late Ida R. (Martellucci) Long. Born in Mount Sterling, IL, he was the son of the late Gerald J. and Gertrude (Garthouse) Long.

Mr. Long was an insurance agent for New York Life Insurance for over 50 years before retiring. He was a U.S. Navy Captain pilot and combat veteran of the Korean War; an active member of St. Paul's Church in Edgewood, RI; and past Grand Knight of Cranston Council Knights of Columbus.

He was the devoted father of Janis A. Hoegen-Sexton and Lawrence F. Long, both of NV, Particia M. Brown of North Kingstown, Bonnie J. Perrotti of Jamestown, Paul D. Long and Gerald E. Long, both of Cranston and Robert J. Long of Warwick; loving grandfather of eight; loving great-grandfather of seven; and dear brother of James Long and Marjorie Dahl, both of CA and the late Edward and Alphonse Long, Marie Vancil and Maxine Root.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston. VISITING HOURS are THURSDAY MORNING, May 8th from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Paul's Church, One St. Paul Place, Cranston at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will be at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
