Lawrence Pezza Sr
93, of Johnston passed away Monday February 23, 2015 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Mary (Matteo) Pezza.
A lifelong Johnston resident he was the son of the late Vincent and Filomena (Landi) Pezza.
Mr. Pezza was the owner of the former Pezza's Market in Johnston for over 50 years until his retirement. He was a decorated combat Army Veteran of WW-2 and a life member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, the Kelly Gazzero VFW #2812 and the DAV G. Folcarelli, Providence #1.
Besides his wife he is survived by his two sons; Lawrence Pezza, Jr. and his wife Lorna of Cranston and Michael Pezza and his wife Mary of Shawnee, KS; his grandchildren; April Pezza and Jimmy Lyons, Lawrence III, Maria, Michaela and Mattea Pezza, he was the brother of Rose Campisani of Cranston and the late Domenick, Benny, Anthony Sr. and John Pezza, Angelina Restanti, Mary Rinaldi and Margaret Pezza.
His funeral will be held on Saturday at 9am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory 1278 Park Ave., Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Rocco's Church, Johnston at 10am. Burial, with Military Honors, will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS Friday 4-8pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Rocco's Church or St. Rocco's School 927 Atwood Ave. Johnston, RI 02919 or Make-A-Wish Foundation 20 Hemingway Dr. Riverside, RI 02915.
