Leo Jude Paquette

79, of Cranston, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, May 5, 2024.  He was the beloved husband of Sandra M. (Marzilli) Paquette.  Born in Central Falls, he was the son of the late Emile and Roselyn (McConnan) Paquette.  Besides his wife, he leaves his loving daughter Marisa Monahan and her husband Daniel, cherished grandchildren Sheamus and Mary, and was the brother of the late Brian Paquette.

When you think of Leo, remember the smile on his face, the twinkle in his eye, and how he loved to make others laugh.

Remember the outstanding high school athlete who excelled in basketball, baseball and even football, gaining recognition in both state and local newspapers.

Remember the Army Reserve veteran and the first responder who served on the police force in both Pawtucket and Barrington.

Remember the man who valued education, earning -in his adult life -both a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice at Roger Williams University, and an Master of Public Administration at URI.

Recall the Probation and Parole Officer and Supervisor for the State of RI, dedicated in his efforts to both rehabilitate and to protect.

Bring to mind the man whose appealing Irish charm and humor brought so many friends into his life.

He was a man who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. Leo spent his adult life playing sports on competitive teams, getting together with Frank and Dave, his friends from childhood, enjoying the camaraderie of his now deceased older brother Brian, going out for his weekly Saturday night date with Sandra, being actively involved with Marisa throughout her childhood and teens, following the lives of Sheamus and Mary, enjoying a large expensive cigar and drinking his VO Manhattan (no vermouth).

But, most of all, when you think of Leo, remember that he was a good man who lived a good life. He wholeheartedly loved and was tremendously loved by- his wife Sandra of 53 years, his daughter Marisa Monahan (husband Dan) and his two grandchildren, Sheamus and Mary Monahan, of whom he couldn’t be more proud! They brought so much joy into his life.

Leo was a comic, a loyal friend, a devoted family man, and a joy to those whose paths he crossed. He will be so devastatingly missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Leo’s life at his Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Cranston.  Burial will be private.
