98, of Johnston, formerly of Cranston passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Morgan Health Center, Johnston. He was the loving husband of the late Anna (Caldarone) DiLeone to whom he was married for over 54 years. Born in Providence, a son of the late Vincenzo DiLeone and Concetta (Simone) DiLeone.
Veteran of WWII, served in the Army Air Corp, Leonard worked as an Independent Hardware Store Owner and then as a salesman for Blackstone Supply until his retirement. Throughout his life he was an avid golfer, loved to go dancing, enjoyed bowling, traveling and vacationing. He had been active with the Disabled American Veteran, American Legion, Manton Seniors, Providence Federal Hill Lions, Cranston Senior Center, Parish Reunion Co-Chairman, Commentator, Lector, Extraordinary Minister at St Mary's Church, Cranston and later at St. Robert Bellarmine's Church, Johnston, past president Holy Name Society, Italian American War Veterans, and United Commercial Travelers. Leonard was a true gentleman, very generous and caring person. He leaves a great legacy to his family and friends.
He is survived by his children, two sons, Leonard J. DiLeone of North Kingstown, Kenneth R. DiLeone and wife Gloria of Cranston, his daughter Anna Marie Fusco of Johnston. He was the proud grandfather of Amy and Kevin Smith; Rachel and David Aucone; Leah DiLeone; Amanda and Nick Carsone. He also leaves behind his great grandchildren Kailey Smith, Nicki and Marco Aucone, and his companion Laura Marrocco of Cranston. Brother of the late Vincent DiLeone of Garden Grove, CA and Edmund DiLeone of Newport, RI.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Atwood Ave., Johnston, RI. Entombment with Military Honors at St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston.
