92, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Morgan Health Center in Johnston. He was the beloved husband of the late Emily (Dalo) Macari. Born in Johnston, the son of the late Leonardo and Assunta (Rocchio) Macari, he was a lifelong resident of the town.
Lenny was a hoisting engineer with Local 57 for 40 years and worked for the State of RI DOT from 1961-1963. A veteran of WW-II, he was a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army; a member of the Johnston Democratic Town Committee; and an avid Red Sox fan. He was inducted into the Fox Point Soccer Hall of Fame in 1980.
He was the devoted father of Linda A. Zanni and her husband Benjamin of Smithfield and Leonard A. Macari and his wife Cheryl of Ft. Myers, FL; loving grandfather of Anthony B.J. Zanni and Becky Bouchard, Jessica L. Capobianco and her husband John, Jennifer L. Zanni, Jaime L. Calabro and her husband Mike, L.J. Macari and Brittany Sheridan; loving great-grandfather of Jack and Nico Capobianco, Michael and Leo Calabro and Mia Elizabeth Zanni; dear brother of Carmella Macari of Smithfield and the late Mary Coutu, Annie LaVallee, Antonette D'Agostino and Adam Macari; and companion of Irene Salzillo of Johnston.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, followed by burial with military honors at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
