Lida Khandanyan, MD

a beloved member of her family and community, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on February 1, 1935, in Yerevan, Armenia, she embodied warmth, resilience, and dedication throughout her life.

Dr. Khandanyan served as a medical surgeon in the Armenian Army for many years, a testament to her commitment to helping others and her unwavering spirit. Later in her career, she transitioned into serving her community as a Mall manager before ultimately making the move to the United States in 2007.

Her life was defined not only by her professional accomplishments but also by her pride in her family. Lida is survived by her daughters, Gohar Manjelikian and her husband Rev. Hagop Manjelikian of Cranston, and Karine Khandanyan of Armenia. She was a loving grandmother to Diana, Elizabet, Suzan, and Tatev, and cherished her role as a great-grandmother to five great-grandchildren.

Lida was predeceased by her husband, Fedik Barceghyan, and her parents, Hovanes Sohak Khandanyan and Tamar Vardanyan. Throughout her life, she remained devoted to her family, who were her proudest accomplishments.

Her Funeral Service to which relatives and friends are invited will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025 at 11am in the Armenian Evangelical Church, 180 Oaklawn Avenue, Cranston. Visitation will take place at church from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM, prior to Funeral Service. Burial will be at North Burial Ground, Providence.
