Lillian "Lil" G. (Santoro) Favicchio

96 of Cranston, RI, passed away peacefully surrounded by family in her home on July 25, 2026. She was the widow of William Favicchio, whom she married in 1951.

Born June 6, 1930, in Providence, RI, daughter of the late Angelina Sardelli and Ernesto P. Santoro, Lillian or “Lil” as her many friends called her was a 1948 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School. With a natural affinity for accounting and many childhood years spent behind the cash register at her brother’s dry cleaners, Craft Cleaners, she began her working life at Industrial National Bank in Providence.

After marrying William in 1951 and taking several years to raise their children, Lillian returned to work with the Cranston School Department. She spent the next 32 years as a special needs teacher assistant - a role that reflected her patience, warmth, and devotion to children. The friends she made during her long career, she held closely for the rest of her life. The tight-knit group of friends has played cards and shared laughs every Monday night for the past 40 years.

Lil also generously volunteered her time to the ALS Association of Rhode Island, giving back to a cause close to her heart. In 2019 she was presented with a volunteer award for her years of service to the local chapter.

Above all, Lil cherished her family, especially her five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy. She loved summer days at Bonnet Shores, dancing, and playing cards with family and friends.

Lillian is survived by her sons Michael Favicchio Sr. and Robert Favicchio, their wives Donna (Gammino) and Debra (Peters); her 5 grandchildren, including Michael Favicchio Jr. (Laura), Alicia Grossi (Bryan), David Favicchio (Julie), Matthew Favicchio (Kelly) and AJ Favicchio; 9 great-grandchildren, Cooper, Miles, Isabelle, Grace, Emma, William, Winston, Eloise, and Hollis.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 30 years, William Favicchio Sr., and her siblings - Alessandro (Alex) Santoro, Claire Imperatore, Evelyn Lyons, Olive Lanni, Celia Santoro, and Freddy Santoro.

She will always be remembered for her warm smile and joy-filled laugh, loyal friendships, and her unwavering love for her family.

The family thanks the wonderful caregivers and hospice team for their compassion, care, and commitment to making Lillian comfortable and loved during her final days.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday, July 30th at 8:45 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Immaculate Conception Church, 237 Garden Hills Dr., Cranston at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
