of Johnston, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Hebert Nursing Home in Smithfield. Louis was the beloved husband of the late Grace J. (Josselyn) Bourgeois. Born in Halifax, MA, he was a son of the late Louis J. Bourgeois, Sr. and Ruth (Mitchell) Bourgeois. Louis was an Army Veteran serving during the Korean War and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He worked as a postal employee for the United States Post Office for many years, until retiring.
He is survived by his loving daughter Debra A. Battista and her husband Mark of Johnston. Louis was the cherished grandfather of Jessica B. Degnan and Rachel N. Battista, and loving great-grandfather of Aidan, Camden and Ethan. He was the dear brother of Marilyn Maggio of Warwick, Jo-Ann Reilly of Johnston, Nancy Perna, Arthur Bourgeois, both of FL, and the late James Bourgeois.
Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Tuesday at 9:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Robert Bellarmine Church at 11:00 a.m. Burial, with military honors, will be held in RI Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
