81, of North Providence, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2015, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. Louis was the devoted husband, for 60 years, of Lillian (Rezza) Gioffreda. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late John and Ida (Ursillo) Gioffreda. Mr. Gioffreda was an Army Veteran, serving from 1954-1956. Louis graduated from Bryant University with a degree in accounting. He started his initial accounting career working for ITT-Grinell until 1974. From 1974, until his retirement, he was Director of Cost Accounting and Budgets for Blue Cross/Blue Shield of RI. After his retirement, he worked part-time for the Cranston Community Action Program (CCAP). Louis was an avid ten pin bowler and golfer. He also enjoyed all outdoor activities, especially gardening. He loved traveling, especially vacationing in Florida, during the winter months. Louis was a true gentleman who was always willing to assist anyone in need. Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving children, David Gioffreda and his wife Lori DePetrillo, and Carole Gioffreda and her husband Thomas Veloso, all of Cranston. Louis was the brother of Concetta "Connie" Paolino, John Gioffreda, and the late Richard Gioffreda. Funeral will be held from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Monday at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church, Cranston at 11:00 a.m. VISITING HOURS: Monday 9:00-10:00 a.m. Burial will be held in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Alzheimer's Association, RI Chapter, 245 Waterman Street, Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906 or Gentiva Hospice, 2374 Post Road, 206, Warwick, RI 02886.
